Neither Nickname: Neither Squeather or Attack Kitty
Born: 1989/Rainbow Bridge: June 29, 1998
Abandoned cat - Neither was dumped in my neighbors yard in a box along with his sisters and brothers and mother. The neighbors brought him to me. Neither was my only outdoor cat. He was plump and a lover. He always stayed on the front porch and did not have a mean bone in his body, hence the name Attack Kitty.
Lucy Nickname: Princess, Squeakers, Lucy Goosey
Born:
Adopted from litter - My kitty. Mine.... Lucy hates the other cats. She is not mean to them, just doesn't want to be bothered. She is a loner. She is my best friend. This cat has gotten me through some really tough times. When I was my saddest this cat would lay on top of me or on my head and purr so loud. She KNEW I was upset. She never left my side during those times. When we die, our ashes are going to be mixed together.
Ethel Nickname: Grey Ghost
Born: /Rainbow Bridge:
Lucy's sister. Ethel was definitely not a cuddler, at least not with humans. Her and her sister, Lucy were inseperable however. Just before we lost Ethel, she started to like cuddling.
Angel Nickname: White Boy
Born: /Rainbow Bridge: January 27, 1998
Pound cat - I had just lost Ethel to a tragic accident. Although we had buried Ethel, I was literally in denial and went to the pound looking for her. I was calling out her name and had my hand in this one cage. This cute little white kitten was pawing my fingers and purring. I could not resisit. Angel was very defiant. When he did something wrong and was scolded, he would scowl and swat. He was a character. Sweet Angel had Feline Leukemia and died this year. He was a good cat, a lovable cat and was the only cat that was nice to Daisy and Ace when we brought them home. That is probably how the kittens contracted it. We do not know for sure. We had never heard of Feline Leukemia before. We now know all too well.
Ace Nickname: Baby Boy
Born:/Rainbow Bridge:
Abandoned cat - Ace was abandoned at an American Legion Post. We took him and his friend Daisy in. Both turned out to have Feline Leukemia. Ace passed away summer of 1997. My heart still hurts when I think of him, he had the cutest meow and always wanted to cuddle.
Daisy Nickname: Daddy's Girl
Born:/Rainbow Bridge:
Abandoned cat - Daisy was only with us about three months. She died of Feline Leukemia. See: Ace.
Bernie Nickname: Bully among other things...
Pound cat - Bernie is a bully only if he senses fear in the other cats. Otherwise, he is a pushover. Mostly Bernie spends his time in the garden window, eating or keeping the bed warm.
JoJo Nickname: Baby Girl
Born:
Pound cat - JoJo is very shy. She is however very sweet in her own way. Any real cat lover can appreciate this...she has a really pretty, furry, little butt.
Spanky Nickname: 50-50 Bar, Spanky-Wanky
Born:
Adopted: December 24, 1996
Pound cat - Spanky is very timid but once you earn his trust he is a lover. He is also extremely polite when it comes to feeding time. He eats only when everyone else is done.
Gabriel Nickname: Pig Born: December 24, 1988
Adopted: December 24, 1996
Pound cat - His adoption card read that he was two years old. We adopted him and left him at the pound vets to be neutered. When I got home, I received the call. He was more like 8-9 years old and had cataracs. They wanted to know if I still wanted him. Gabriel is a pig. He will pull food right from your mouth if he can and will put up a good fight for it, too.
Mattie Nickname: Couch Potato
Born:
Adopted from a litter - Missy's sister. Mattie came to live with us when she was a kitten. Although we played with her every day, she would get spooked alot. She clawed me up alot. It was almost impossible to pick her up and hold her and therefore bonding was all but out of the question. We had her declawed and since then she is now extremely loving. I taught her to paw at my head when she wants lovin'. Sometimes she gets really excited and rolls around in my long hair.
Missy Nickname: Bed Bug, Pissy Missy
Born:
Adopted from a litter - Mattie's sister. Missy is kindof goofy. She doesn't like to be pet really. She likes to be patted like a dog, but she does give good nose kisses.
Oliver Nickname: Paper Weight (18+ lbs.)
Born:
Abandoned cat - Oliver was abandoned by his owners when they sold their house. The real estate agent found him and his brother (see Metatron) in the garage without food or water. I just happened to meet the real estate agent through a friend and the first thing she said was, "Do You Like Cats?" I took the two of them home the next day. They are both Norwegian Forest cats. Very big and very furry. Oliver is shy and likes to give kisses.
Metatron Nickname: Fur Ball
Born:
Oliver's brother. Metatron is very shy but very lovable. However, the bed is his kingdom and chases the other cats off when they jump up. You literally have to hide your hands so he will quit rubbing them for attention.
Mew-Mew Nickname: Moo-Moos
Born: 4/15/98 - Rainbow Bridge: 12/12/98
Mew Mew was one of my favorite cats. He died while at Allcare Animal Hospital in Fountain Valley. They did everything they could. Although he tested negative for every feline disease and all his organs tested fine, the doctor believes it was neurological and nothing could have been done. I will never stop loving him and can't wait to see him again someday. Mew Mew was a cuddler. He just wanted to bury his face in your neck, he didn't care if he was pet. He didn't meow either. He made this little "ehhh" noise and his eyes would squint and his nose would scrunch up. He was my little love. He was cremated and his ashes will be mixed with mine. It was a lonesome Christmas without him.
To Mew Mew: Mommy misses you and I'll see you soon. A day doesn't go by that I don't call out your name. Your brothers and sisters are doing their best to make me feel better, but you know you were my baby and it just won't be the same without you in my arms. I love you.
Mommy Nickname: I can not repeat it - she is pissy!
Homeless cat - Sweet Mommy...she adopted me. She was a stray that came up to me in the yard this past May. She was so thin and obviously was nursing some kittens somewhere. So, I fed her but left her outside figuring she needed to get back to her kittens. After 2 1/2 weeks of feeding her, her weight was normal. Her nipples were shrinking and it was obvious she was no longer nursing. Still, I didn't want to take her in the house till I was sure her kittens did not need her anymore. Before I had the chance to test her and bring her in, some stray got ahold of her and got her pregnant again. I did not know she was pregnant though. I had her tested and vaccinated and made her an indoor cat. A few months later, we were blessed with her kittens. See AJ, Sassy, Tootie.
Max Nickname: Hausenpheffer/Maxie Pax
Adopted from a litter - We adopted Max and his sister, Violet from their Mommy's owner. The conditions they were living in were filthy.
Violet Nickname: Violeta
Adopted from a litter - See: Max. Violet is very shy and doesn't like to be picked up. However, she will cuddle sometimes and likes her head scratched.
BooBoo BooBoo again Nickname: Boo-Boos da Babies
Born: May 13, 1998
Adopted: June 27, 1998
Adopted from grocery store - I was walking out and this woman held him up and asked me if I wanted him. I was shaking my head and saying, "NO!" as I walked towards him with my hands out. Boo Boo has gotten so big. He is very muscular and lean. He really isn't cuddly, but he still is a sweetie.
AJ Nickname:
Born: August 17, 1998
See: Mommy - AJ is a cuddler. He has a sweet little meow and is very gentle.
Sassy Nickname: Sassafras
Born: August 17, 1998
See: Mommy. Sassy looks almost identical to her sister, Tootie. Only a mother could tell them apart. Sassy was not very affectionate till recently. She was frightened to be picked up. Now she is content to curl up on any human pillow she can find.
Tootie Nickname: Tootie-Pootie
Born: August 17, 1998
See: Mommy - Tootie has a set of lungs on her. When she is hungry, she lets you know. You would think you had stepped on her tail! She has a paper fetish and chews any paperwork that gets left out.
Bunny Nickname: Bunny Love
Born: April 1, 1998
Adopted: August 22, 1998
Garage sale cat - She is this adorable kitty with a stump of a tail and she hops like a bunny. I believe she is a Manx. (Stumpy-type) She is extremely lovable and cuddly. She used to like to keep me company when I took a bath till one day she decided I should be holding her. Although I was scratched up pretty good, she went swimming! She doesn't like the tub anymore. Bunny loves to be held and reeks havoc on every thing in the house. She enjoys perching herself on top of the valance in the living room. She likes to get into the closet, climb the clothes and get onto the shelves, knocking things down. When she is feeling particularly frisky, she crawls through the tupperware in the kitchen cabinets. She is a hand-full and a heart-full.
Murphy Nickname: Murphy-Smurf
Born: July 4, 1998
Adopted: September 4, 1998
We gave Murphy his name because a neigbor found him up a tree. (Murphy's Law) Just this little 8 week old kitten, meowing, cold and scared. This neighbor went house to house to house trying to find the owner. When he came to my house, of course I agreed to take him in.
Penelope Nickname: Penny, Princess Penelope
Born: September 27, 1998
Adopted: October 17, 1998
Garage sale cat - The mother was an outdoor cat and relocated the kittens, leaving poor Penelope behind. She was 3-4 weeks old when she came to live with me. Penelope is very sweet and loves to give wet nose kisses. Penelope (our littlest kitten) likes to chase the bully cat, Bernie. They are very good friends.
Tippy Nickname: Tippy Toes
Born: March 26, 1997
Adopted: December 15, 1998
Pound cat - Tippy got her name because she stands on the very tip of her toes like a ballerina when you pet her back.
Ananda (Sanskrit for "Bliss") Nickname: Baby Girl (pronounced "Baba Gaa")
Born: January 6, 1998
Adopted: December 15, 1998
Pound cat - She was marked NSA (Not Suitable for Adoption) so I spoke with the officer who trapped her and was told she was either wild or had been traumatized because she stayed in the back of the cage, hissing and clawing anyone who put their hand in the cage. I explained that I could give her her own room with a cushioned window seat and lots of patience and love. The officer was relieved because otherwise she would have been put to sleep. She is now home and the pound was wrong. She does hiss when you first enter the room, but then quickly meows, purrs and rolls over. She is skiddish but she is a lover. She was just misunderstood! I think she will rapidly become one of my favorites. There's nothing better than knowing you made a difference in a cat's life.
1/18/99: I am feeling quite disturbed with the Riverside Animal Control where we got Ananda. They had her marked NSA. (see above for explanation) She has lived with us for 33 days now and we are best friends. She does not hiss anymore. She head butts me everynight and we spoon till we fall asleep together. She still gets spooked sometimes, but I can't believe they were going to put her down because they thought she was wild/traumatized. Their purpose for this, obviously was because it was either too much of a bother to have someone spend some time with her or they were afraid someone might get scratched. How many cats are in shelters today that are just frightened/timid and will be marked NSA because they aren't purring and cuddly the second a human comes up to their cage?
7/11/2000: Ananda and I are best friends. She is so cuddly and one of my favorite kitties. We have this bond. Everynight before bedtime, I can find her on my bed or in her window seat and she gives me a big wet nose kiss. She loves to have her neck kissed. She is a very happy kitty.
